Duke Ellington and his orchestra.
Duke Ellington's band was made up of individuals who stayed with him and he wrote for them as individuals.
On his album "Such Sweet Thunder" he composed a suite in which each piece featured one of his players.
In this clip Duke Ellington introduces his trumpet section which is led by the famous "Cat Anderson"
Trumpets: Shorty Baker, Ray Nance, Clarke Terry (again) and Cat Anderson.
It's interesting to note their postures - they look so relaxed and indeed I'm sure they couldn't play that fluently and freely if they weren't at ease.
